Being Well In The Zoo

Health and wellness are the core of a happy and productive office. Making the time and finding the right practice can be challenging in itself. Here’s how

Being Well In The Zoo

It can be challenging to do everything we want to when there are only so many hours in a day. More often than not, the first things to go are the things that will actually help us be more healthy and productive.

But finding the right balance between work and life can be difficult. Continue reading to find out why we prioritize health and how that translates in our day-to-day lives.

What Is Carding?

In companies that support well-being efforts, a whopping 91% of employees say they are satisfied with and motivated to do their best at their job.

Setting aside time to exercise, eat well, or even get outside and smell the roses can go a long way for one’s mental health. Any person or organization can encourage people to be well by including a variety of healthy activities that anyone can take part in.

At Worldline, we host an annual March Wellness month. People were most involved in:

  • Yoga
  • Boot camp
  • Meditation classes
  • Nutritional classes
  • Massages
  • Group walks

Keeping people motivated for fitness after a wellness month can be a challenge. To keep the motivation going, we started a fitness channel making it easy to invite others to classes and encourage everyone in their wellness journey.

How Does Worldline Promote Wellness?

Health Benefits

Finding a healthcare provider that shares similar values to your organization can help promote a culture of health and wellness. Worldline’s healthcare provider offers incentives or rewards programs to get people involved, and more often than not, there is something for everyone. For example, completing a program – like a meditation class – gives employees the option to take time for themselves while earning rewards towards their benefits.

Financial Wellness

Mental and physical health are the topics we relate to health the most. But there is another health matter that lives in your wallet that can also cause some unwanted stress and anxiety. We’re talking finances. Learning how to manage finances can work wonders for one’s mental health. This year, Worldline began incorporating RRSPs as part of the compensation package. Financial planners were brought in to educate on how to plan for retirement. Now, Bamborians can pick an RRSP plan that suits their needs, and start saving for their future.

Community Involvement

Wellness doesn’t necessarily have to mean wellness in the workplace. Community initiatives such as volunteer work or fundraising can spark the same feelings of wellness in the workplace. Volunteering collectively as an office not only brings people closer together as a community. It gives people the chance to give back when they might not have had the opportunity otherwise.

Every year, Worldline participates in the VIATEC Food Bank Challenge. Companies around town compete to try and raise the most money or food donations for the local food bank. This campaign helped raise almost $50k and over 3,000 lbs of food in 2018 alone! Opportunities like this are everywhere and can be a fulfilling experience for all who get involved.

Wellness in the workplace can take many forms; it’s up to you to decide what works best for your company. When you stand behind your employees 100% in their wellness endeavours, it makes it easier for them to be the healthiest version of themselves!

We believe that fostering a healthy work community will not only have people enjoying their time at work more. It will help them learn how to prioritize and manage their time better.
